I typed ‘The End’ on book 3 today! (now titled Fairly Royal)
The book currently sits at 113,000 words and I wrote it in 98 days, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, two family visits, two theatrical productions, plus a five day trip to New York City, so I feel pretty dang impressed with my productivity. It’s written in dual POV, from both Anna and Phillip’s perspective and I had SO much fun writing this book. While I can’t wait to share it with you, it’ll be at least another 2 month before it’s ready for publishing.
The first thing that is going to happen in the editing process is a big fat NOTHING.
That’s right- authors typically let a new book sit for 1-2 weeks before they come back to editing in order to have a ‘fresh set of eyes’ for their project. So, now I’m debating what I’m going to do with myself. I imagine it’s going to be a bit like me making an adult drink, a little of this, a little of that. Things I may be working on for the next two weeks:
Pleasure/genre research reading
Plotting books 4 & 5
Plotting a short novel for a Christmas group project I’m working on
Plotting a new series in a new genre (paranormal romance, anyone?)
Taking classes on marketing, email lists, etc
Plotting out how I’m going to edit my book before sending it off to my editor
Looks like I’ve got plenty to keep me busy even if it’s not exactly cranking out the words.
Have a great week!
