I have decided to hire an editor to give Faire’s Fair the best chance possible. I’d hate for someone to like the story and then to give me a cruddy review because I spelled ‘roll’ as ‘role’ or bad punctuation etc. But even better than that type of correction, two of the editors came back with lovely suggestions on areas to ‘tighten’ my writing which aren’t BIG changes, but they do make the areas snappier. (weird, sometimes I get a bit fluffy in my prose!) So the good news is I have two editors who are similar in quality of work and cost. The bad news is I have two editors who are similar in quality of work and cost.
I need to verify both of these editors can work with my schedule which has me publishing in late May- although I’ll push the date if necessary as there’s so much to plan/do regarding marketing. Even authors who are lucky enough to traditionally publish are almost always responsible for their own marketing. Which means in my ‘spare’ time I am watching videos/reading up on AMS ads, Facebook ads, etc. Fun times, I tell ya!
